The new European Higher Education Area: the enhancement of the teaching staff of Spanish public universities

Abstract

To implement the directives of the European Higher Education has been indispensable to articulate steps that would encourage and achieve, in the course of a few years, the agreement and harmonization of the different national systems of Higher Education College. In this dynamic process, the university, which is strongly committed and determinate to seek academic and scientific excellence, is concerned with and has taken cared of its lecturer to have the necessary training, pedagogical and didactic both, and the qualification demanded by the new university environment, being a key to a successful completion of an appropriate level of quality throughout the process of learning and assessment of the students.Likewise, lecturer has tried to respond to these demands, being aware of the momentous task they are about to perform. Therefore, from the beginning, they have endeavoured to reflect, innovate and improve tirelessly their teaching and research, picking up the challenge posed by the European space.
