Quality teaching discourses

Abstract

There is broad agreement among scholars that quality teaching is one critical factor in student learning. We argue in this chapter however, that discussions around quality teachers and quality teaching have become so politicised that the mere mention of quality (when connected to various aspects of teaching) fuels immediate debate about definitions (what constitutes quality) and measurement (how quality can be gauged).
