CADD softwares in engineering and technology education

Abstract

This paper deals with the use and application of computer aided drafting and design (CADD) within the curriculums of electronics technology and electrical engineering. It explains how a survey course is often used to introduce the students to a wide range of information and functions, without the intention or expectation of the students becoming electrical and/or electronic professional drafters. The paper discusses how such a course is developed, topics to be included, the selection of an appropriate text and the selection of a software package(s).
