Abstract
Through a discussion of the medical shared decision-making paradigm, this chapter argues that the question of ethics is less about achieving clear-cut justified agreements than about the difficulties to stitch together what really matters to people. The point is that moral deliberation, which underpins the shared decision-making model in medicine, is blind to those difficulties because it is unable to grasp the difficulties inherent to the normative life people are having with concepts.
