The impact of corruption offenses on the economic activity of a business subject

Abstract

Corruption offences are socially dangerous in today's global context because they violate the principles of uncompensated public administration and market competition and create the basis for the development of a "shadow economy". Companies, especially in regions with high levels of corruption, are often not immune to corruption offences, for example, they may engage in commercial bribery to achieve their business goals. The aim of the study is to examine the impact of corruption offences on the economic activities of a company and to assess their consequences for its further development. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the assessment of the effect of legal sanctions for corruption offences (consequences of imposing fines, reputational costs) and justification of the need to implement anti-corruption compliance in the activities of business entities.
