Doppler in threatened abortion

Abstract

Threatened Abortion is one of the most common complication in early pregnancy. Its incidence varies between 20-25%.Transvaginal Color Doppler ultrasonography has permitted assessment of uteroplacental circulation in early pregnancy, irregularities of which have been linked to pregnancy complications such as hypertension, fetal growth restriction (FGR), fetal distress, and early pregnancy failure). The capability of trans-vaginal Doppler sonography to analyze the pattern of circulation in even terminal branches of the uteroplacental circulation has encouraged research for its potential use in predicting early and late pregnancy complications related to abnormal placentation. Impaired vascular remodelling in the maternal - fetal interface is one of the most significant factors associated with early and late complications in pregnancy.
