Abstract

Abstract This survey was a redefinition of the location of what is reputedly Australia's first passenger railway. It was constructed in 1836 and was powered by convicts from the nearby Port Arthur penal settlement. Surviving evidence includes sections of low embankment, building remains and an original intact sleeper.
