O PAPEL DA EDUCAÇÃO FRENTE À CIDADANIA TENDO AS MÍDIAS COMO FONTE DE MANIPULAÇÃO E CONSUMISMO

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to show that Education has the power to transcend the influence of the media through the action of the teacher, the school and public policies. To support this idea, the movie "The Truman Show" was used to contextualize the theme and reveal how it is manipulative action of the media. The didactic intervention was done in 23 incoming students in the degree course in Chemistry of the Federal Institute of Sergipe, in the discipline of Information and Communication Technology.. The article concludes, through the emergent categorizations produced from the units of analysis of the dissertations, without using initially categories, that a critical posture is possible in the students through the reflections discussed after the film. To this end, Education must appropriate its role of transforming information into knowledge through the action of teachers, schools and public policies. Otherwise, we will be reproducers of the socio-political, economic and technological system
