Abstract

Since the US military experienced several local wars, it deeply recognized the importance of the unmanned combat systems. Nowadays, with the improvement of the autonomy of weapons and equipment, the number and scale of unmanned equipment are becoming larger and larger, and the task is becoming more and more extensive. Unmanned combat presents some new characteristics like distribute networked and traditional force coordination. For example, the modular fire brigade proposed by the US military is a typical traditional force coordination with unmanned organizational structure. Such organizations also have their key entities and relationships just like traditional organizations. It is necessary to analyze in detail such a complex military organization, and to analyze its key entity so that it can be well protected in the case of an attack. This paper extend the Force, Intelligence, Network, and C2 (Command and Control) (FINC) model to the Force, Intelligence, Network, C2, and Autonomous (FINCA) model. Based on the original model, it adds a node (A) with a new unmanned combat force that has the function of inspection and integration, and according to the characteristics of the A node, added the type of edge (self-circulation). This model provides a formal representation of nodes and edges in a new type of military organization with an efficient and concise network topology. In order to identify key nodes, this paper introduced five critical analysis methods using the US Fire Brigade as a case, and designs comprehensive performance metrics covering heterogeneous nodes to verify the effectiveness of critical analysis methods.
