Abstract

This study aimed to characterize the profession of Prison Guard or the Body of Prison Guard, analyzing their experiences and stories of professional life, observing the profession regard to their skills, professional profile of and social dimension of the profession on the pros. We also analyze and gather their professional expectations and their career prospects and training professionals. Study participants were 25 elements of Prison Guards with representation of all categories of careers, providing service in 16 prisons, and in the general direction of two valences of Prison Services, the Intervention Group and Security Prison and Chassis Systems and Information Technology and Security. The results of this study indicate that these professionals are proud of that the society in general, and almost from his point of view, has admiration and respect for this profession, recognizing its importance and its social role. This research also points out that these professionals are demanding better working conditions and worry in acquiring skills and receive vocational training to improve your professional performance. Unable to register facing life-threatening situations in their day-to-day training, and that would mostly be recognized as "Body of Criminal Police (OPC)" to have a full action to combat crime without relying other OPC.
