Abstract
Monitoring energy consumption in a micro-grid structure is very necessary for optimal use of generated power. With the increase in local generation at house-hold level and increase in roof-top solar panel installations proper monitoring system is required to assess and calculate energy consumption. This paper proposes a ‘Smart Socket’ placed in every power socket which can monitor the power consumed to the appliance connected at its terminals. The information is then sent to a Central Host system which monitors and manages the load connected. The system is further developed to create a priority load management system where a priority system is created to manage loads with time scheduling with the available power. The Central Host system is then controlled by a mobile application creating an option for remote access.
