The Long-term Performance of Iju- Itaogbolu Road, South West Nigeria: A Geo-Technical Study

Abstract

This research work is aimed at investigating the long-term performance of Nigerian roads using Iju-Itaogbolu road as a case study. Soil samples were collected in disturbed state from five different trial pits at failed portions along Iju-Akure North road, at different depths of (0.5m, 1.0m and 1.5 m). The samples were analysed in the geotechnical laboratory. The tests include; Specific gravity, Particle size distribution, Atterberg Limit tests, Compaction and California bearing ratio (CBR) tests.
