Abstract

Currently, the wind energy conversion systems (WECS) are increasing its penetration on the electrical grid, due to the need for sustainability and alternative energy sources. Therefore, to verify if the relay-based protection systems are capable of identifying electrical faults in a distribution system with a great number of distributed generation (DG) of the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) type is essential. Notwithstanding, the wavelet-based directional overcurrent protection at the 30 bus bar IEEE distribution system with different percentage of DFIG-based DG's insertion on grid is analyzed.
