Abstract

The aquatic vegetation (macrophyte) of the Aghstev river basin is very poor. 29 species of aquatic plants belonging to 19 families were found here, of which 5 species are hydrophytes, 9 – helophytes, 10 – hygrohelophytes, and 5 – hygrophytes. The distribution of macrophytes is limited by waterfalls, chutes and floods, typical of mountain rivers. The hydrophytic index is equal to 0.03, which makes it difficult to assess water quality through macrophytes.
