Abstract

This paper describes the test methods and results used to determine the acceptability of specific COTS transceivers for use in a 1 Gigabit/second military avionics application. Sample transceivers from two suppliers were characterized and subjected to environmental testing. Characterization parameters, tested between -40degC and +115degC, were transmitter average optical output power, extinction ratio, peak to peak optical power, jitter, eye diagrams and receiver sensitivity.
