OUTCOME INDICATORS IN THE CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH A MENTAL HANDICAP

Abstract

The outcome of care provided to the mentally handicapped can be divided into: (1) offering a certain quality of life; (2) stimulating a certain development of social and practical functioning; (3) realising a certain degree of integration of mentally handicapped people; (4) realising a certain extent of satisfaction for clients (mentally handicapped people and their parents). The literature has been reviewed and it has been elucidated which measuring instruments or indicators have been developed in this field.
