A Musical Composition Assistant System Using a Stochastic Musical Model

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a musical composition assistant system for amateur novice composers. The system is based on a stochastic musical model that learns the N-gram frequencies from a musical corpus. The computer does not compose music automatically, but assists musical composition by the human composer by recommending the next notes for the melody. The experimental results show that the system assistant composition reflecting the characteristics of learning data.
