While designing such type of alternator various issues one has to face, therefore there are certain design consideration which should be taken into account. The design considerations for permanent magnet high speed alternator has been worked out in the paper. Several factors viz. stator and rotor sizing, pole nos., bearing types, permanent magnets, etc. governing the performance of the machine to obtain the maximum efficiency has been described in detail and calculations have been performed using empirical relationship.
