Abstract
Automotive UWB radar has recently attracted significant attention which increases the driver's safety and convenience. Therefore, multiple close objects and pedestrians on the road are required to be separated and recognized. The range resolution depends on the bandwidth available, thus it is a challenging issue to improve the resolution for a given bandwidth. In this paper, a stepped-FM UWB radar with Multiple Signal Classification processing (MUSIC) is suggested in order to improve the range-resolution for a given bandwidth. It should be therefore able to separate multiple close targets.
