Abstract

The paper presents design and analysis of cylindrical and rectangular permanent magnet linear transverse-flux generators of different configurations. The machines are viewed as direct-drive generators for ocean-wave energy conversion systems, and are studied by using 3D FEM and circuit software. Electromechanical characteristics of the machines such as: back EMF and power density are compared in the paper.
