Abstract
This article showcases the design and analysis of a staircase aperture loaded microstrip patch antenna (MPA) of dimension 28x23x1.6 mm3. The modelling and simulation are performed using Ansoft HFSS 18. The proposed antenna design operates at two different frequency bands i.e. 2.2 GHz - 2.4 GHz and 5.05 GHz - 5.62 GHz, covering the important bands of Sub-6 GHz frequencies for 5G outdoor applications with dual polarization characteristics. The CP is observed at the higher frequency band i.e. from 5.25 GHz - 5.50 GHz by modifying the ground plane. The proposed design has been verified by validating the simulated results with the measured results using an anechoic chamber. A positive value of gain and radiation efficiency greater than 90% is observed at both the resonating frequencies.
