Abstract

The power packet dispatching system has been proposed toward flexible power management with multiple dispersed sources. In the system, electric power is transferred as a sequence of pulse-shaped units with information tags attached in voltage logic waveforms. This paper discusses the application of the system to the close-loop control of a manipulator. Through experiments, we confirm that information and power are integrated to transfer both the control signal and power required for the control. The results indicate that the proposed system can be applied to a wide range of electrically driven systems instead of the conventional power supply with continuous power flow.
