Abstract

According to the basic principle of birth-and-death process, an event-driven simulator (EDS) for queueing systems is designed in this paper. The main difference between EDS and existing numerical simulation tools is that, EDS supports third-party modules and provides a way for performance control at run-time. Modules in EDS are used for handling system events and sampling actions of feedback controllers are defined as special system events for performance control. EDS is capable of analysing data from real trace and simulating specified processes. Experimental results indicate that, EDS is efficient and can be used to simulate or analyse complex queueing systems.
