Abstract

The optimal component sizing constitutes an important element of micro-grid planning. The determination of generator and storage capacity is a constrained, non-linear, combinatorial optimization problem. In this paper, a comprehensive review of different optimization techniques reported in literature has been presented. The techniques have been discussed in this paper are artificial intelligence based approaches. Critical analysis of different artificial intelligence optimization techniques has been discussed. A systematic assessment of different optimization techniques based on different parameters has been presented. An effort has been made to highlight the pros and cons of various approaches in order to enable the identification of suitable optimization technique for a particular problem.
