A 110kV transformer breakdown resulting from insufficient short circuit resistance

Abstract

The short-circuit resistance is an important performance indicator of operating transformers. It is affected by so many factors like product quality, operating condition, and maintenance. This paper provides a short circuit fault in a 110kV transformer and drowns some conclusion of evaluating and maintaining short-circuit resistance during lifetime of transformers. This is of great importance for preventing transformer short-circuit damage and good help for making suggestions to improve reliability of the power grid.
