Abstract

This paper discusses work done to date in the area of using com­ puter modelling to estim ate radiated field amplitudes. Unlike existing vector techniques used for tuning antenna patterns in phased array systems, this scalar technique is designed for radiated EMI prequalifi­ cation of shielded instruments. These models estim ate the worst-case radiated electric field amplitudes from shielded equipment using a scalar receiver and a hand-held receiving antenna in a laboratory en­ vironment. Background information, a discussion of the modelling technique and results are presented.
