Abstract
This paper discusses work done to date in the area of using com puter modelling to estim ate radiated field amplitudes. Unlike existing vector techniques used for tuning antenna patterns in phased array systems, this scalar technique is designed for radiated EMI prequalifi cation of shielded instruments. These models estim ate the worst-case radiated electric field amplitudes from shielded equipment using a scalar receiver and a hand-held receiving antenna in a laboratory en vironment. Background information, a discussion of the modelling technique and results are presented.
