Abstract
This paper studies about the energy utlisation and CO2 emissions trends in the energy abundant and energy scarce nations. Governments in many countries are increasingly aware of the urgent need to make better use of the world‘s energy resources. Energy efficiency can improve energy security, spur economic growth and mitigate pollution, but current and planned efforts fall well short of tapping its full economic potential. The United States, which currently imports around 20% of its total energy needs, will become all but self‐sufficient in net terms by 2035. Talking of Energy efficiency, Carbon dioxide emission is one of its exclusive determinants. China is among the top 6 CO2 emittors in the world and energy consumption of China will surpass the energy consumption in U.S by 2035.Liquid fuels are expected to remain the largest source of energy. Increasing supplies of unconventional natural gas, particularly in North America but elsewhere as well, would help keep global markets well supplied.
