Abstract

Very High Spatial Resolution images (VHRS) is a powerful tool for quick mapping, especially in the detection of change occurring after a natural disaster. In this context, the aim of this paper is to propose a methodology for detection of damaged buildings after an earthquake based on object-oriented analysis applied to a pair of Quickbird images. The experimental results show that the detection rate was approximately 0.9, for existing buildings before earthquake and approximately 0.66 for damaged buildings.
