Abstract
Commercial building owners spend 30% of their operating budget on energy. Costs can be reduced with improved BEM practices. Optimising building performance reduces demand for energy from the grid and fuels burned on site, while on the same time minimizes carbon emissions from electricity generation and improves occupant comfort. Fuzzy logic ensures to endow current BEMS with built-in intelligence capable of improving their performance in managing complex infrastructures consisting of HVACs, refrigerators, PV plants, pumps, etc. To this end, substantial work is currently being done in anomaly detection, real-time activity recognition and non-intrusive load monitoring. To support the previous considerations, this case study focus on the disaggregation of cloud based energy loads based on data collected from a commercial building located in Athens, Greece.
