Abstract

The migration crisis, which intensified after 2015, forced the European Union to take measures to adapt its agencies to the new tasks ahead. The article describes the path that Frontex has gone through in adapting to the requirements placed on it in the current migration crisis. The author shows the essence of the functioning of Frontex before 2015 and the changes that have occurred in the subsequent years of its operation. The article is largely based on the data presented in the Special Report, “Frontex support for the management of external borders – insufficient effectiveness has been ensured so far” prepared by the European Court of Auditors.
