Abstract
Power factor correction feature became demanded in modern converters due to swift increase in penetration of electronic devices. At the same time, implementation of soft-switching modulation techniques allows to reduce the power losses in converters and increase their efficiency. Current source converters have native potential to implement both features. This paper compares well-known parallel resonant, newly emerged adaptive resonant and secondary-modulated topologies in order to evaluate the main benefits and drawbacks and determine the most suitable converters for AC-DC application with soft-switching and power factor correction.
