Abstract

Professor Ali Mahafzah in his review of my Studies in the History of Transjordan, 1920-1949 (Die Welt des Islams, XXVII-1987, pp. 140-144) attributes to me abusive value judgments on Amir, later King, Abdallah, as well as pronouncements on the shaping of Transjordan, such as, "Abdallah was ... a tyrant, ... a nincompoop, ... a blight to the country .... [He practised] Oriental favouritism .... Ideally the best solution was for Transjordan to unite with Palestine" and more of the genre.
