A Low-cost Six-Bit Digital Phase Shifter

Abstract

In this paper, a phase shifter at 5.5GHz is designed, fabricated and measured. This circuit connects six phase-shifting units in series and uses PIN diodes as selection switches for different phase-shifting combinations. The design is simulated and optimized in Advanced Design System (ADS). The measurement results show that the phase shift error is less than 3° at 5.5GHz. The cost of a circuit is less than $5.
