Abstract
As the integration of unconventional energy sources like solar and wind grows, and fairly large loads like electric vehicle charging stations, the performance of the distribution grid has considerably been affected. This calls for an efficient as well as flexible means for integrating them into the grid. Solid State Transformers (SST) are a good option for reducing various power quality issues like voltage and frequency fluctuations, for reactive power compensation, to improve system stability, etc. In this paper, the system's effectiveness is investigated for varying wind speeds using PI, PID and Fuzzy PID controllers and their performances are compared. It also studies the system performance after introduction of a disturbance. The system is simulated using MATLAB SIMULINK software.
