Abstract

High voltage overhead line 70 kV was eliminated one by one because of the high amount of fault. 44% of 70 kV HV overhead line in Malang's fault are caused by lightning. From the total fault caused by lightning, 45% had an impact on electricity outages. Hazards that appear in overhead line transmission include Back Flash Over, Shielding Failure, step voltage, and touch voltage. Analysis and evaluation is needed to provide protection device solution for HVOL 70 kV in the tropical area Indonesia, especially Malang. So that 70 kV HVOL will not be eliminated in Indonesia.
