REMOTE SENSING ANALYSIS OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS IN SIBERIAN CITIES

Abstract

Applications of remote sensing technology to derive information about environmental conditions in the cities of southern East Siberia are described. Initial sections outline the general applications of space imagery in the study of natural and human-modified landscapes. A subsequent section of the paper addresses the specific problem of urban ecology in cities in Irkutsk Oblast and how these are being analyzed through the use of a variety of remote sensing devices.
