Food wastage leads to rise in greenhouse gases emission and food insecurity especially in developing countries. This paper presents an idea of a smart refrigerator that is able to detect the quality and measure the quantity of food products stored inside it. It is designed to notify user of food shortage, food spoilage and current status of food items using an android application on a mobile device. The user is able to detect spoilage of food item in preliminary stage. Abstract

The objective of this paper is to propose a next generation Smart Refrigerator enriched with sensors, camera and image recognition mechanism. Refrigerators are commonly used for storing and preserving food for an extended period of time.
