Abstract
The performance of a multichannel slotted Aloha system in a multiple log-normal Rayleigh interferers environment is investigated. A Markov model is used to obtain the system throughput and average packet delay. The throughput of such a slotted multichannel Aloha system with capture is found to be much higher than without capture. Numerical results show that the capture effect is not sensitive to Rayleigh fading for a given receiver sensitivity. The results also indicate that reducing the receiver sensitivity or capture ratio is one way to improve the overall performance of an Aloha network in land mobile radio communication environment.<>
