Abstract

In this paper, a tunable bandstop frequency selective surface (FSS) is designed based on liquid crystal (LC). The FSS is a sandwich structure, which contains two antisymmetric metallic layers, separated by LC. The relative permittivity of LC can be controlled between 2.5 and 3.3 by changing bias voltage. The simulation results show that continuous tunable feature of the FSS is obtained, from 17.938 GHz to 20.152 GHz, of which the tunable range is 11.63%.
