Abstract

Europeans are aging, and they are increasingly using active implanted medical devices. We have conducted measurements of magnetic flux densities in hospitals in order to find possible risks to sensitive devices and thus to patient safety. The highest values 62 µT were found at electric facilities, but in treatment rooms, the values were less than 3 µT. Overall, the electromagnetic disturbance should be evaluated when planning hospitals.
