Due to its floating input and output, differences in ground potentials do not disturb the transmitted signal. Hence, recorder and data processors can be grounded according to the manufacturer's recommendation. Powerline leakage currents are also prevented from loading the ground of the electrophysiological recorder. Abstract
An isolation amplifier is presented which is intended as an interface between electrophysiological recorders and standard data processing equipment. Due to its floating input and output, differences in ground potentials do not disturb the transmitted signal. Hence, recorder and data processors can be grounded according to the manufacturer's recommendation. Powerline leakage currents are also prevented from loading the ground of the electrophysiological recorder.
