Organoid nevus syndrome in a neonate with hemimacrocephaly.

Abstract

Barth et al. (Neuropadiatrie 8: 418— 428, 1977) have drawn attention to the organoid nevus syndrome and the association with hemimacrocephaly. We would like to describe briefly a similar more striking case. The family history is not relevant. The mother had Australiaantigen positive hepatitis from 24th to 26th week of pregnancy. Delivery at term was by Caesarian section because of cephalopelvic disproportion; the biparietal diameter of the head measured by ultrasound was markedly enlarged. Apgar score was 4 at one minute and 8 at ten minutes. Birth weight was 3700 grams. Head circumference was 45 cm (markedly above 97th percentile). The infant, a female, had striking left-sided
