Abstract
Since the requirements to calculation accuracy are becoming ever stricter, they call for overhead power line (OPL) mathematical models that use the most accurate adjustment for the internal material properties and the geometry of the modeled objects while also accounting for external effects from the environment; in this regard, analytical methods become imperative for error verification and analysis. This is why it is necessary to develop such OPL relay protection algorithms that would automatically adjust the setpoints for the changing environmental conditions. Relay protection performance analysis presented herein proves such automatic adjustment to significantly reduce the range of setpoint uncertainty.
