Abstract

Classification is a field of research that was developed in the 1960s. It can be found in several research areas such as statistics, pattern recognition, and image analysis; it is therefore the basic principle of several diagnostic support systems. This is to assign a set of objects (fabrics, records, etc.) to a set of classes according to the description thereof. This description is made through typical class-specific properties or conditions.
