Victoria's New Parliamentary Budget Office: Fiscal Context and Technical Prospects

Abstract

This discussion paper examines the new Parliamentary Budget Office being created in Victoria, Australia, with a view to highlighting the fiscal and technical aspects of the prospective institution. The paper finds that the design of the institution is line with best practices and is highly pertinent to the Victorian fiscal context.
