The LAN-E network of the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics

Abstract

This paper presents the installation of an ATM network at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics. The network was designed to connect more than 1000 computers at different locations and in some respects turned out to be the largest ATM implementation in Europe. The paper describes both the problems and the solutions during the first nine months of operation.
