Abstract

AbstractA calorimetric study of aluminium–zinc alloys containing up to 60 at.-% Zn has yielded values of the enthalpy of formation that compare well with those of previous work by Wittig and Schoffl (Z. Metallkunde, 1960, 51, 700). Trends in composition and temperature coefficients are also in good agreement. It is suggested that values of the enthalpy of mixing in both studies are more consistent with a previously proposed modification to the phase diagram than are those obtained from emf studies.
