Abstract
The energy crisis and the greenhouse gas issues caused by the conventional power resources led governments to pay greater attention to renewable energy resources. Wind energy conversion systems can be regarded as important resources that should be under continued research. The purpose of this paper is to provide modeling, design and control for a wind energy conversion system, including the wind turbine, doubly fed induction generator combined with a battery energy storage system to overcome the intermittent nature of the wind speed. The system is investigated under many scenarios such as changing load at constant wind speed and constant load at variable wind speed. A stator-voltage oriented reference frame using a synchronous rotating dq reference frame has been adopted for controllers design. Finally, an electromagnetic transient simulation program has been used to verify the proposed control systems.
