Abstract
Elderly partially/completely edentate patients suffering from fracture of mandible present a complex scenario to the surgeon. This is due to pathological conditions or physiological changes accompanying aging. As a result, open reduction of fractures can cause complications like mal union or infection. Additionally, absence of teeth presents a unique problem as the guideline for correct alignment is lost. This case series reports Gunning splint as more practical alternative to provide closed reduction and stabilization of fractured segments to open reduction and plating for such patients.
