ASK: a kernel for programming actor systems

Abstract

In this paper, ASK, a kernel for programming actor systems under MS-DOS operating system, is presented. The kernel was designed to define and test a set of primitives based on the actor programming model and suitable to be implemented on parallel systems with physically distributed memory. ASK makes it possible to develop and test highly concurrent programs and to analyze their run-time behavior.
